This is a 17km walking track through the Tokomaru Valley - It is part of "Te Araroa" the planned New Zealand-long walking trail and is a Challenging day or multi-day tramping/hiking.

easy gradient along farm track to lower Mt Wanui and Akatarawa Forest. Good views of QE Park and Kapiti Island. Links to Whareroa Farm and Perhams Road. Caution - grazing stock.
Access: From Valley Road east of Paraparaumu via the steep and windy Maungakotukutuku Road.

The day trip to Table Top is the classic climb to the tops of the western Tararua Range. It is also the entry/exit to the Southern Crossing.

Time/Distance: 3km -1 hour
Access: Just north of Fishermans Table, SH 1, Paekakariki. The track heads up steps into bush then follows the open cliff tops. Continue through the reserve then into Ames St. Turn left into Beach Rd then follow The Parade to the Surf Club at the north end of the road.
