We are the western gateway to some of the most rugged and challenging tramping in New Zealand - the mighty Tararua Range. You can also take a day trip into these ranges and explore the foothills. Whatever length of trip you are planning please be prepared - the weather can change in a flash, often leaving ill-prepared trampers stranded.
Accommodation is by way of a classic kiwi backcountry hut. Services are basic and trampers are expected to be fully self contained. More information here.
