With over 46 kilometres of unspoilt, safe swimming beaches, every town on the Nature Coast has a road to the beach.
With over 46 kilometres of unspoilt, safe swimming beaches, every town on the Nature Coast has a road to the beach.
Our beaches range from remote stretches of coast to popular, busy family beaches. Picnic, swim, fish, dive, kayak, surf, sail, enjoy sunsets, and eat some great local fish and chips.
It pays to check the tides as some beaches are more accessible at low tide.
All beaches are safe for swimming and each has its own character:
Foxton Beach is renowned for its fishing, sailing, boating, kite surfing and birds.
Waitarere is a popular holiday and fishing destination.
Otaki Beach is popular for walks and fishing and has great views of the Tararua Ranges.
Te Horo is remote and has wonderful driftwood for creative inspiration and sculptures.
Waikanae has a scientific reserve and migratory birds.
Paraparaumu Beach is where the boats are launched off the sand and the ferry leaves for Kapiti Island.
Raumati Beach is good for surfcasting and swimming.
Paekakariki offers surfing and great coastal walks in Queen Elizabeth Park.
There's always a cafe, restaurant, or takeaway outlet nearby, and you'll always pass some stunning nature reserve or natural spot.
Contact our i-SITE Visitor Information Centres for more details including bus, train, and tide timetables; or the latest in other activities and events. They are located in Paraparaumu, Otaki and Levin.
