All visitors to Kapiti Island require a permit from the Department of Conservation
There are two locations on the island for visitors to choose from: Rangatira, approximately halfway along the eastern shore, and the north end of the island.
50 people may visit Rangatira, and 18 may visit the north end per day.For both destinations you must obtain a visitor access permit from the Department of Conservation.
Trips to the island are weather dependant. You must contact the boat operator on the morning of your trip for a weather check and to confirm the departure time.
Please note, there are no trips to the island on Christmas Day 25 December, Boxing Day 26 December and New Year's Day 1 January.
