A journey that can take you places
Wellington Tramway Museum, Queen Elizabeth Park, tram rides, museum display and attractions, Paekakariki, Kapiti
It's the journey that can really take us places. Queen Elizabeth Park, between Paekakariki and Raumati South on the Nature Coast, holds some pretty special modes of transport - horse riding and trams - to take you through this remarkably scenic part of the coast. Come and preserve not only our heritage, but also other experiences like picnics and walking in the park, and family days out. Visit the Wellington Tramway Museum and ride on an historic tram, or view the tram barn display and museum attractions. If your interest runs deeper, ask about a behind the scenes tour. No matter what age you are, this museum is a fantastic and must-do part of your adventure on the Nature Coast.

Ride on a historic Wellington tram; these electric street tramcars operated from 1904 to 1964 and some of you will remember the wooden slat seats and leather strap to hold on to. It's an amazing place to visit.
You are invited to become a member of the museum, and share in the history of the place, for our future. Museum members are proud of their efforts which, without doubt, have saved the trams from the scrap heap, and given present and future generations the opportunity to see and experience this important aspect of past urban life. Membership offers you a regular newsletter outlining the museum's activities with opportunities to assist with tramway restoration, become a 'motorman' - tram driver, and join in the museum's social activities, and a chance to research New Zealand's tramway heritage, as well as many other activities and tasks. Be part of our regular work days as well as essential maintenance and restoration on Wednesdays and weekends.
