Big inspiration from a little blue fruit

Happiness can be slippery. But for a couple on 11.5 beautiful acres of blueberry farm just north of Levin, not only have they found it; they've bottled it, made it into hats, painted and printed it, they've turned it into an experience that can quite literally change lives. Here, inspiration can be measured in real things; a historical printing press, a working blueberry farm, a bed and breakfast, jars of rich blue jam and jelly, incredible felt garments and hats, a working garden, and a herd of alpacas that like kissing noses with Jessie the golden retriever. And then there's the inspiration that slowly seeps in to be simulated later.

Just 45 minutes north from Wellington is Southward Car Museum - an iconic part of the Coast. Thanks to the vision and passion of Sir Len Southward, for 30 years people have come to view a private collection of cars considered one of the best and biggest in the world. Only when you step into the building will you realise why 40,000 people per year visit Southward. View the 350 cars and the motorcycles, bicycles, three aircraft, fire engines and other interesting collections.

It's the journey that can really take us places. Queen Elizabeth Park, between Paekakariki and Raumati South on the Nature Coast, holds some pretty special modes of transport - horse riding and trams - to take you through this remarkably scenic part of the coast. Come and preserve not only our heritage, but also other experiences like picnics and walking in the park, and family days out. Visit the Wellington Tramway Museum and ride on an historic tram, or view the tram barn display and museum attractions. If your interest runs deeper, ask about a behind the scenes tour.
