Te Wānanga o Raukawa, Toi Whakarākai (Design and ART), corner of Te Rauparaha and Main Street, Ōtaki. 10am – 3pm.
$10 per person at door.  If you are interested in learning about your own tupuna artforms, the day begins with an exhibition viewing of taonga and artists talk, followed by practical workshops with Toi Whakarākai weaving and carving tutors’ who will assist with poi piu/poi raupō or kōwhaiwhai creation. The birds are being wiped out.  We now have the environmental science, and know which predator is, or had been, eating what. 04.02.    Bradley Garner's "The Heart" EP launch gig (Paraparaumu)

After just 2 and a half years of singing and songwriting, on 31st January 2012 Bradley Garner is releasing "The Heart", a five track CD.  This EP was written, recorded and edited by Bradley himself.

Bradley is having an official launch gig of his new EP at Lindale Cafe, Lindale Tourist Complex, Paraparaumu from 7pm to 9.30pm.  $5 door sales only - all ages welcome.

Performers also include Amy Sturman, Micheala Duguid and Bradley Garner.

Sales of the EP available at the gig for $5, merchandise table, candy raffle, sausage sizzle.  The cafe will also be open and selling a range of food an drinks.  Alcohol also available for sale (R18 - ID required).

05.02.    Waitarere Beach Fishing Club Surfcasting Competition (-)

Waitarere Beach Fishing Club are holding a surfcasting competition on 5 February 2012 from 6am to 6pm.  This will be on the northside of Waitarere Beach.

Cost to enter is $20 per adult rod and $5 per child rod.  Tickets available from Sportsworld, Tackle Tactics and Beachcomber Cafe.

06.02.    Teddy Bears Picnic (Paraparaumu)

Southward Car Museum, Otaihanga Rd, Paraparaumu. 11am – 2pm.
Bring along your favourite Teddy Bear and register in our Annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic competition categories – Best Dressed Bear, Oldest Bear, Biggest Bear and Smallest Bear.  A great day out for children with games, entertainment, kiddy rides and foodstalls.

06.02.    Waitangi Day Commemorations (Paekakariki)

Campbell Park and Paekākāriki Memorial Hall, Paekākāriki. 10am - 4pm.
